# Brand settings

> Edit a brand's name, description, aliases, market, language, keywords and engines, what each change affects, and how to pause, delete or restore a brand.

Source: https://ranqo.ai/docs/guides/brand-settings

Everything the wizard drafted when you added a brand can be changed later. This page covers the **Edit brand** page, what each field changes and from when, and how to pause, delete or restore a brand.

## Open the edit page

Use either:

- **Edit** in the header of the brand's Home page, or
- **Edit brand** from the brand's ⋯ menu on **Brands**.

Change what you need, then choose **Save Changes** in the bar at the bottom. The bar reads **Unsaved changes** while you have edits, and **Cancel** leaves without saving. After a save, Ranqo takes you back to the brand's Home page.

## What you can change

### Name and logo

Click the brand name at the top to edit it. The website address cannot be changed: to track a different site, add it as a new brand.

The logo is the one your site declares. It is set when you add the brand and is not editable here.

### What you do

- **Description:** one or two sentences on what the brand does and who it serves.
- **Category:** the product category AI assistants would use, such as "CRM Software".
- **Aliases:** abbreviations or other names that should count as a mention of you. Each alias is matched literally, so a common word can be counted where it does not refer to you. Add only names people really use for you.

### Who you target

Pick the market your buyers are in. New prompts start with it:

- **Worldwide:** questions are asked globally, tied to no one market.
- **One country:** every question is asked like a buyer in that country. Choose it under **Target country**.
- **City or region:** asked like a buyer in one metro area. Type it under **Target location**.

A country or local market needs a location before you can save; until you pick one, the bar says **Pick a target country to save** or **Pick a target location to save**.

Every prompt stores its own market, shown in its **Location** column on [Prompts](https://ranqo.ai/docs/guides/prompts), and is asked from that market whatever the brand's market says, so changing the market here leaves existing prompts where they were. To move one, choose **Edit** from its **⋯** menu and change **Target Country**. The **All Locations** filter on the Library tab finds the prompts still set to the old market.

**Language** sets the language your prompts are written in and the language Ranqo asks the engines to answer in. The choices are English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Polish, and Portuguese. The dashboard, reports and emails stay in English. As the note under the field says, changing it re-runs every prompt on the next check. The line under the fields sums up your choice, such as "Prompts written in Spanish · every check asked from Mexico"; its market half applies to new prompts only.

### Industry keywords

The topics and product terms your buyers search with. The counter beside the field shows how many you have.

### AI engines

The brand's engines. The section's subtitle reads "Where your weekly visibility checks run", but each prompt is asked on its own engines, shown in its **Platforms** column on [Prompts](https://ranqo.ai/docs/guides/prompts). New prompts start with the brand's engines, and changing them here updates the tracked prompts that use them (see the table below). The picker offers the engines your plan includes; engines outside your plan are shown locked. If you changed to a plan with fewer engines, a note lists the engines that were dropped from this brand, and saving applies the change. See [Plans and limits](https://ranqo.ai/docs/guides/plans-and-limits).

## When a change takes effect

No change reruns anything straight away. Each one applies the next time Ranqo uses it: the next scheduled run, or the next time it writes prompts or content for you.

| You change | What it affects |
|---|---|
| Name or aliases | Which mentions count as yours in each answer, from the next run. Past results stay as they were measured. |
| Description or category | The context Ranqo writes from when it drafts for you, such as blog ideas, blog posts and outreach drafts. |
| Keywords | The topics new prompts are written around. Prompts you already track keep their wording. |
| Market | Where new prompts are asked from. Existing prompts keep the market they were saved with, so they are asked from the same place as before until you edit them. |
| Language | The language engines are asked to answer in, from the next run, and the language new prompts are written in. Prompts you already track keep their wording. |
| Engines | The engines new prompts start with. From the next run, every tracked prompt whose engines were exactly the brand's old engines is asked on the new ones. A tracked prompt with a different set keeps it, and so does every paused or never-run prompt, even one that had the brand's engines. Past results for a removed engine stay in your history. |

Changing the name also changes the brand's address in the dashboard. Old links to the brand still open it.

## Pause tracking

Pausing stops the brand's weekly runs without removing anything. Choose **Pause** in the Home page header, or **Pause tracking** from the brand's ⋯ menu on **Brands**. A paused brand shows **Inactive**.

**Resume** starts the runs again. If the brand's weekly anniversary has passed, it runs at the next daily check; otherwise it waits for that date. See [Your first week](https://ranqo.ai/docs/guides/first-week).

## Delete a brand

On **Brands**, open the brand's ⋯ menu, choose **Delete brand**, then **Remove**. The brand leaves your dashboard and its weekly runs stop. Its tracking history, prompts, competitors and other data are kept, so you can restore it later.

Only the account owner can delete a brand. Team members can edit brands but not delete them. See [Team and seats](https://ranqo.ai/docs/guides/team).

**During a free trial:**
A removed brand that has completed an analysis still counts toward your plan's brand limit until you subscribe. The delete dialog says so when it applies. See [Billing and trials](https://ranqo.ai/docs/guides/billing).

## Restore a brand

Add the brand's website again from **Add Brand**. When you choose **Start research & see my plan**, Ranqo recognises it and shows **This brand was previously removed**, with its prompts, runs, competitors and sources counted.

- **Restore Data** brings the brand back as it was, with its history, and opens its Visibility page.
- **Start Fresh** replaces it with a new brand and runs the full setup again.

When removed brands are what fill your brand limit, the Add a brand page lists them with a **Restore** button instead. See [Quickstart](https://ranqo.ai/docs/guides/quickstart#adding-back-a-brand-you-removed).
